Michael Mikesell Beautifully written/arranged, performed, recorded—and annotated. I highly recommend the CD for Burik's insightful and inspiring liner notes. The photography and tri-fold layout are gorgeous too. This is why we need physical media in the digital era! Favorite track: Birka 581.

Fragment 94 06:05
For many crowns of violets and roses...at my side you put on and many woven garlands mad of flowers around your soft throat. and with sweet oil costly you anointed yourself and on a soft bed delicate you could let loose your longing and there was no dance, no holy place, from which we were absent and there was no dance, no holy place, from which we were absent no dance, no holy place, from which we were absent no dance, no holy place, from which we were absent

about

This album is inspired by figures from myths, folktales, and world history. I find strength and comfort in their stories, feeling my modern identity validated by their ancient ways of being. Above all else, this album celebrates the many ways of being human.
